The Western Mediterranean once again played host to a thrilling edition of the SM La Reina Trophy, with Varadero Valencia underlining its commitment to yachting as a sponsor of the race and the ORC 1 class.
More than eighty yachts from various categories competed in this top-flight sporting event off the coast of Valencia. These included the Varadero Valencia Aquarelle Sailing Team, with Arturo Mesenguer and Toni Puig at the helm, who competed in the ORC 2 class, finishing second in real time and third in corrected time after completing the 160 miles in 23 hours, 10 minutes, and 36 seconds.
Arturo Mesenguer, owner of Aquarelle 1, said that "offshore races usually take us at least 24 hours, but this time we did it in 23 hours. What we like most about this type of race is that winning involves doing really well, getting the wind right, and having a dash of luck. What's more, you need to adapt quickly to changes in conditions.
This time we did really well, leading the race halfway through at the Es Vedrá mark. After that, although we coped with the Poniente wind quite well, we didn't judge its duration and intensity that well, which sent us down to third place in corrected time.
This is the first time we raced double handed and we're already really looking forward to the next time. Aquarelle is now at Varadero Valencia being fine-tuned for her next race. We can't wait to get back out on the water".
Varadero Valencia has firmly positioned itself as a benchmark in the Valencian yachting industry thanks to its commitment to excellence. The company is renowned for its outstanding track record and its specialist services, offering end-to-end attention to yachts in Valencia.
At its side, Monzó Yacht Painting adds its seal of quality to painting works, guaranteeing impeccable and long-lasting finishes that protect and enhance yachts. Meanwhile, The Carpentry, a division of Varadero Valencia and specialists in wood, is responsible for restoring, repairing and building wooden elements with the utmost precision and care, ensuring the optimal functionality and aesthetics of yachts.
Santiago Donat, Managing Director of Varadero Valencia, explains that "it's a true honour for Varadero Valencia to sponsor the SM La Reina Trophy. We're truly committed to the success of yachting and the positive impact the sport has on our community. Our passion for sailing is behind our ongoing support for this top-flight event, which helps place Valencia on the international yachting scene.
"What's more", he adds, "we're delighted that more and more racing boats are choosing Varadero Valencia as a must-visit for fine-tuning jobs".
Varadero Valencia has the facilities, the professional team, and the experience to make sure that every boat is in perfect condition to take on any challenge or competition.
Three days of intense racing and outstanding camaraderie characterised the SM La Reina Trophy, an event that has raised the bar for yacht racing and inspired the Varadero Valencia team to continue perfecting its skills to achieve new goals.
A challenge enjoyed by all, where sportsmanship and camaraderie were the true protagonists.
